International manga superstar Shintaro Kago has been blazing a trail of manga books since 1988.

He describes himself as kisou mangaka (“bizarre manga artist”), and his work usually features strong satirical overtones as well as themes of grotesque, experimental, and the bizarre. He has published numerous comics and stories in his career, notable among them Super-Conductive Brains Parataxis published in the Japanese comics magazine “Weekly Young Jump”. Some of his comics published in English include Dementia 21 (Fantagraphics), Super-Dimensional Love Gun (DENPA), The Princess of The Never-Ending Castle (Hollow Press), The Twelve Sisters of The Never-Ending Castle (Hollow Press), Tract (Hollow Press), Industrial Revolution and World War (Hollow Press), Secret Comics Japan (Viz Communications), Day of the Flying Head (Hollow Press), Peach Momoko X Shintaro Kago 2017 USA Tour Comic (which was exclusive to SacAnime & Japan World Heroes conventions) and Multiple other manga and sketchbooks have been published around the world of his.

Kago has also drawn American comic covers for House of Slaughter, HAHA, Liquid Kill, Eat The Rich, Tales Told in Techni-Color Horror, Basilisk, and Vice Magazine

In 2014 he designed the cover for Flying Lotus’s album “You’re Dead!”, as well as producing illustrations for each of the songs. Your Dead was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2016 Grammy Awards and featured contributions from artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Thundercat. In addition, Kago designed the album cover for Offset’s “Bent Benevolence”.

Kago Designed for the film adaptation of Stephen King & Joe Hill’s novel “In the Tall Grass”, directed by Vincenzo Natali (Cube, Splice) and released on Netflix.

On June 17 2022, Kago announced the development of his first anime, Abstraction, produced by DRP.
