SacAnime Summer 2026 Welcomes Johnny Yong Bosch

Johnny Yong Bosch got his start fighting giant bugs as Adam Park, the Black Ranger, Green Zeo Ranger, and Green Turbo Ranger on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He played the role for three and a half seasons on television, two motion pictures, and made special guest appearances in multiple future Power Rangers seasons, including Once & Always.

After Power Rangers, Johnny became a prolific voice actor in anime, film, and video games. His first major voice role was as Vash the Stampede in Trigun. He has since voiced iconic characters such as Kaneda in Akira, Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach, Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass, Kiba in Wolf’s Rain, Renton in Eureka Seven, Sasori in Naruto, Artemis in Sailor Moon, Giyu Tomioka in Demon Slayer, and Lio in Promare. Other notable roles include Izaya Orihara in Durarara!!, Yukio in Blue Exorcist, Makoto Tachibana in Free!, Orga Itsuka in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Haruo in Hi Score Girl, Zora Ideale in Black Clover, Jonathan Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Sabo in One Piece, and Nine in My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising.

Johnny’s talents extend to the gaming world, where he has voiced Nero in Devil May Cry 4 and 5(including motion capture), Adachi and Yu Narukami in Persona 4, Firion in Final Fantasy Dissidia, Guy Cecil in Tales of the Abyss, Emil Castagnier in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Zero in Marvel VS Capcom and Super Smash Bros., and Kung Jin in Mortal Kombat X. He has also lent his voice to Street Fighter IV (Yang), Transformers: War for Cybertron (Bumblebee), and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (Iron Fist).

Upcoming projects include voicing Gabriel in Gabriel and the Guardians and Dante in Adi Shankar’s Netflix adaptation of Devil May Cry.

Beyond acting, Johnny is also a singer-songwriter. He previously fronted the band Eyeshine and is now part of his newest music project, Where Giants Fall.
