SacAnime Summer 2026 Welcomes Josh Petersdorf
Josh Petersdorf is a powerhouse voice actor originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and now based in Los Angeles, where he’s spent the past 15 years bringing unforgettable characters to life. With an Associate’s Degree in Arts from Expressions College and a background in music production and improv comedy, Josh’s distinctive, booming voice quickly found its place in the worlds of animation, video games, and live entertainment.
He is best known for voicing Roadhog in Blizzard’s hit franchise Overwatch, as well as the mighty Galio in League of Legends and most recently Monster Hunter RISE as the lead Hunter. Shalk the Sound Slicer in Ishura on Disney+/Hulu as well as Director Ton in Netflix’s Aggrestsuko have also heard his booming tones added as major characters. His work in Fire Emblem Engage as Morian, King of Brodia was a fan favorite as well as various roles in Fire Emblem Heroes.
Josh’s anime credits continue to grow, with work in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Children of the Sea, and other international dubs. He also voices Kent in the acclaimed horror audio drama We’re Alive: Frontier and its follow-up Descendants, the latter earning him an Indie Series Award nomination for Best Ensemble in 2023. His voice can be heard across major gaming titles like Smite, Shin Megami Tensei V, Street Fighter V, Paladins, and Rage 2, among many others.
At Universal Studios Hollywood, Josh lends his voice to both Optimus Prime and Megatron and has performed live for over 11 years, thrilling crowds daily. His viral Megatron roasts have racked up hundreds millions of views online and cemented his status as a fan-favorite performer. He’s also featured in the AMC Walking Dead Attraction and has portrayed The Grinch in Universal’s Grinchmas event numerous years since 2012. Recently he portrayed Xanathar in Fanfest Nights’ 2025 in the exclusive Dungeons & Dragons licensed “Return to Waterdeep” interactive experience at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Outside the booth, Josh connects directly with fans on his Twitch channel, optimus_slimed, where he streams games, chats, and shares behind-the-scenes insight into voice acting and fandom culture.
Josh’s commercial credits include campaigns for brands such as Shock Top, Firestone Tires , The Clorox Company, Dockers, and The San Diego Zoo, showcasing his versatility across genres and audiences.
